The opportunity is one of those that happens from time to time, especially with those producers like Vivo who are recently entering the Italian market and want to move with the right caution. In recent days I had the opportunity to meet the company and touch some very interesting devices that, at the moment, we will not see for sale in our part. The technology is there, the interest too, but sometimes you have to wait for the right timing.
In this article, I want to briefly tell you about the impressions I had in contact with Vivo X Fold, Watch 2, and the tablet Pad. Three solutions that broaden the view of the Chinese house and anticipate what will probably be their near future beyond the “simple” smartphone.
VIVO X FOLD, THE MATURE
First-class specifications and latest generation folding hardware platform with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, 12GB of RAM and 256 / 512GB of storage ( here all the technical details ). What is impressive is certainly not the technical data sheet, but the constructive care and the level of maturity reached with these leaflets that wink at tablets (to steal their place). The hinge has been designed with a teardrop structure that allows the two edges of the display to be perfectly flattened and centered when closing.
Zero gap and an element that supports the fold from below once opened. Which doesn’t mean you can’t see the fold, for those wondering. On a constructive level it looks truly impeccable, with extreme attention to detail, a leatherette finish for the back. Fantastic 8.03-inch Schott UTG flexible HDR10 + Amoled (Samsung) display with a claimed peak brightness of 1,500nits and low reflections (for the category). The dimensions are therefore important, it can also be seen from the external display (always Amoled) from 6.52 inches and the sustained weight of 310 grams.
With these foldable you don’t mess around, you go straight to the point by offering different modes of use that elevate the user experience compared to all other smartphones. I liked the hinge, precise and delicate in the closures/openings, capable of offering various degrees for “booklet” use. I have not been able to test the functions created ad hoc for this format, as we know it is one of the real keystones for leaflets that change the rules of approach. Who knows if the next version will come to us, in that case, I’d like to see a smaller variant too, but I’m speaking for pure personal taste.
Watch 2 is more classic, presented just before last Christmas in China in a single version with a 1.43-inch OLED display (326ppi and 60hz refresh rate) and 46mm case, a smartwatch that does not go unnoticed on the wrist. It has the Always-on function and two side speakers that also allow you to make voice calls.
One of the most interesting things about this wearable, however, is the autonomy, with Vivo declaring from 7 to 14 days of operation depending on use, this is thanks to the 510 mAh battery and a double chip that divides the tasks between the common operations. and connectivity. Of course, I have not had the opportunity to ascertain the duration in such a short time, but if only half of what the company said was confirmed it would already be a success (for a smartwatch).
To close the trio of news the Vivo Pad, in my opinion, one of the most interesting Android tablets for build quality. Elegant and functional, it arrived in China accompanied by the Pen and keyboard with magnetic cover. Beautiful in design with an 11-inch display and powerful enough with Snapdragon 870, 8GB of RAM and 128 / 256GB of internal memory. Perhaps I would avoid the smaller cut given its nature.
The feedback in hand is absolutely positive, you have the feeling of a premium tablet and there is not a lot of choice on the market. So dear Vivo, give us a little thought and take it to Italy too, without making us wait for 2023!
