The social network “VKontakte” launched “Clips” – a service of short vertical videos, its representative told Kommersant. The service is an endless stream of such videos that users create. The popular Chinese TikTok application works by a similar principle.
“Clips” support “AR-mechanics” – control using various gestures to enable recording or add effect to the video during shooting. User’s videos will first be shown to friends and subscribers. “A new recommendation platform will provide access to a wide audience, which takes into account billions of signals about the interests of users, their favourite content formats, as well as about interactions inside and outside the social graph and subscriptions,” added Vkontakte.
At the start of the service, videos from celebrities such as Pavel Volya, Ekaterina Barnava, Yevgeny Kulik, Ilya Sobolev, Philip Kirkorov and others will be available in the service. All users will be able to post their own videos later.
