VK: VKontakte launches group video calls

Vkontakte now you can arrange group video calls. At the start, up to 8 people can communicate in them simultaneously. The function is already available in the latest version of the VK mobile application.

To start a conversation, you need to open a suitable conversation, click on the handset icon and select which chat to invite to the call. You can add an interlocutor directly during communication.

Any user can already receive calls, and the entire VK audience will be able to create them in the coming days. 

VK: VKontakte launches group video calls

Vyacheslav Shebanov, team leader of the messenger VKontakte:

“Now video calls are the only way to hold meetings with colleagues, see relatives and participate in online classes, while maintaining a self-isolation mode. We will quickly increase the functionality of the new service so that in the fall in group video calls it would be easy to organize classes for an entire class or student group. ”

Recall that VKontakte launched voice and video calls in the application on Android and iOS in April 2018. According to the company, in the first quarter of 2020, the monthly number of calls increased by 24% year-on-year, to 64 million.

In March, it became known that the social network began testing voice recognition in Russian and would soon offer its own technology for this function.
