VKontakte will test a neural network to combat insults and bullying in the comments
The social network “VKontakte” will conduct an experiment to combat intolerance and bullying in comments using a neural network. This was reported in the press center of the company. Developers will test functions that are designed to reduce the number of insults throughout the day.
The first function will be a hate speech filter, which will remove threatening comments. Community admins will be able to see all hostile comments and add the author to the blacklist if they often break the rules.
The second is recommendations for avoiding insults. At the time of writing a comment, the social network will analyze whether there are signs of insults in the text. If the system finds them, the user will receive an offer to refuse the aggressive statement. Last year, the feature reduced the number of offensive language by 36%.
Public admins will be able to enable the hate speech filter in community settings. Despite this, the standard form for filing complaints of insults will remain on the social network. Based on the testing results, VKontakte will make decisions on how to improve and further use the functions.
