Volkswagen ID Buzz electric minibus to launch in Europe in 2022
Carsten Intra, Head of Commercial Vehicles at Volkswagen, shared plans to bring the all-electric ID Buzz minibus to market.
The car will debut in Europe next year, he said. In this region, it will be offered in passenger and commercial versions and versions with a standard and extended base.
In the United States, the minibus will become available in 2023. And here it is planned to offer it only in the passenger version with an extended base.
There are three versions of the capacity of the battery pack. The younger model will be equipped with a rear-wheel-drive system, and the power plant will be about 200 horsepower. The most expensive modification will receive a four-wheel drive and power at the level of 300 “horses.”
In Europe, the commercial version of ID Buzz is planned to be offered, among other things, as a fully autonomous vehicle with an advanced autopilot system. But this option will be released a little later than the usual models.
It is also noted that ID Buzz’s production will be organized in Hanover (Lower Saxony, Germany). Various electric crossovers of the Volkswagen group will also be produced here.
