It will be the ideological successor to the Volkswagen Polo
According to the source, Volkswagen has realized the lack of a trendy electric vehicle in its range – a cheap entry-level model. The current eUP has not justified itself: it is relatively expensive, and at the same time, provides minimal mileage. But this is typical of originally gasoline cars converted to electric ones. The future ID.3 and ID.4 do not correspond to such a characteristic either: they will not have problems with the power reserve, but the price goes for 30,000 euros. So the company expects to release another model – ID.2. It will be released in 2023 with a price tag below 20,000 euros for the basic version.
Volkswagen’s truly people’s electric car will be released in 2023
In terms of dimensions, the ID.2 will correspond to the current Volkswagen Polo (a European hatchback, not our liftback, which is a redesigned Skoda Rapid) volume of space inside the electric car will clearly surpass its gasoline ancestor.
Volkswagen also plans to release many hybrid modifications for its cars in the period from 2023 to 2026. And we are talking about plug-in hybrids that can travel up to 100 km on clean electricity. Such versions of cars, the company believes, allow people to switch to electric vehicles more easily.
