Up to 1440p resolution

Earlier this month, we learned that Backward Compatibility mode on the Xbox Series S console will not work the same as on the Xbox Series X. This is due to lower performance and lower memory.

Weak Xbox Series S will double the performance for many older games

Today new details have appeared on this score. For example, games for the original Xbox will run at higher resolutions on the Xbox Series S. The maximum will be 1440p. In addition, performance gains are expected.

Xbox 360 games that have already been improved for the Xbox One X will also be improved. Depending on the project, the resolution will range from 720p to 1440p, but the performance can be higher than even on the more powerful Xbox One X since the latter is focused on 4K resolution. In addition, the new product has a much more efficient CPU.

Microsoft also revealed an interesting feature regarding exactly how the Xbox Series S will improve games for the Xbox One S. The improvement will consist of double the frame rate, which was not on the Xbox One X. And it is implemented very simply. As stated by the Microsoft developer, this does not require any special configuration – often as simple as changing three lines of code. However, sometimes additional changes are still required, but they are also easily implemented.
