In addition to energy consumption

So, today Intel finally released its Arc A580 graphics card, pricing it at only $180. Intel itself is positioning the new product as a competitor to the Radeon RX 6600 and GeForce RTX 3050. The second is noticeably weaker than the first and more expensive. An Nvidia card in the US starts at around $210, while an AMD adapter can be purchased for $190. In Europe the situation is similar. That is, the Arc A580 is initially cheaper than its competitors. Now we will look at the tests to evaluate whether it is faster.

As you can see, in Full HD, and this is the target resolution for video cards in this segment, the new product is noticeably ahead of the RTX 3050 and falls short of the RX 6600. That is, with the RX 6600, the Arc A580 has approximate parity in terms of price and performance, but the card Nvidia is far behind both competitors.

At 1440p resolution, Intel’s new product is already ahead of the RX 6600, and at 4K it is even ahead of the RX 6600 XT. The wider memory bus has an effect here. Of course, higher resolutions for this adapter will be a difficult test, but the card will still cope with many, not the most demanding games.

You can also compare the new product with the older Arc A750. The latter is only 11% faster (in Full HD), so for the money, the new model may be more interesting, except for some promotions.

Traditionally, Intel cards are not bad at ray tracing. Here the Arc A580 in Full HD is ahead of the RX 6600 XT. But where Arc adapters are traditionally bad is in energy efficiency. The Arc A580 consumes 210 W in games, which is even more than the RTX 3060 Ti or RTX 4070. From the rest, we can note only good overclocking potential, which allows you to increase about 10% of performance.

By the way, today, based on one OpenCL test, we assumed that the Arc A580 will be ahead of the RTX 3050 and may not be able to cope with the RX 6600. In the end, as we see, this is what happened.
