In the normal version of the Galaxy A71, the scanner is slow

Sub-screen fingerprint scanners in inexpensive smartphones sometimes leave much to be desired. For example, in the Samsung Galaxy A50 / A51 and A70 / A71, their work does not please either speed or accuracy.

What do Samsung Galaxy A71 5G, OnePlus 8 and Huawei P40 have in common? They are related by a fingerprint scanner

However, it turned out that the Galaxy A71 5G, recently introduced in the US, uses a different scanner. To begin with, recall: The Galaxy A71 5G differs from the regular version primarily on a different platform. Instead of Snapdragon 730, Exynos 980 is installed here. At the same time, the smartphone did not seem to have other significant changes.

But now it’s reported that the Galaxy A71 5G is Samsung’s first smartphone with Goodix’s optical fingerprint scanner. Apparently, the smartphone of the Korean giant uses the same sensor that is installed in the OnePlus 8 and Huawei P40, that is, this is clearly not a budget solution. Given that the Galaxy A71 5G costs $ 600, a poorly functioning fingerprint scanner would obviously make it less attractive – the same OnePlus 8 is much better in many ways, but it costs only $ 100 more in the United States.
