Madhav Sheth, CEO of Realme India, has confirmed that in two years the brand has become the fourth largest smartphone company in India based on sales in the first quarter of 2020.
In the first quarter of this year, the brand occupied 14% of the Indian market (by revenue), behind Xiaomi, Vivo, and Samsung. Realme posted significant growth of 119% per annum and is 2 percentage points ahead of its parent company Oppo. The company also managed to ship 14% of all devices in February, taking third place after Xiaomi with 32% and Samsung with 17%.
Madhav Sheth also said that Realme Buds Air allowed the brand to enter the top five in the category of wireless headphones. The company is second only to Samsung, Apple, JBL, and Noise. At the same time, Realme Buds Air is second only to AirPods in sales.
It is clear that market dynamics will change since quarantine has been introduced in India since March 25. This will greatly affect the following results.
