This is actually a copy of Helio G80
Yesterday, the Redmi brand introduced the Note 9 smartphone, based on the SoC MediaTek Helio G85. This platform needs to be paid a little more attention since Redmi Note 9 was the first device on this SoC. Moreover, it is still not even available on the MediaTek website.
What heart did Redmi Note 9 get? We understand the parameters of the new SoC MediaTek Helio G85
So, the MediaTek Helio G85 configuration includes two Cortex-A75 processor cores with a frequency of 2 GHz, six Cortex-A55 cores with a frequency of 1.8 GHz and a Mali G52 MP2 GPU. And here it is important to know that the Helio G80 has exactly the same configuration, and the only difference is that the G85 has a higher frequency of the graphics core at 50 MHz (1000 MHz versus 950 MHz), which, of course, does not noticeably affect performance. Moreover, Helio G70 has exactly the same configuration, except that the frequencies of all components except the senior CPU cluster are slightly lower.
Thus, if you want to understand what Redmi Note 9 is capable of, you can look at smartphone tests on SoC Helio G70 or G80 – the results will be approximately the same.
Perhaps Helio G85 has some other differences from the G80 since the 50 MHz GPU frequency is clearly too insignificant reason to create a “new” platform. But we will find out about this when MediaTek will publish all the parameters of the new items on the official website.
