WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps in the world
During a conference to release its quarterly earnings report, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that about 100 billion messages are being delivered via WhatsApp every day. WhatsApp chief Will Cathcart later confirmed this on his Twitter page.
WhatsApp Delivers 100 Billion Messages Every Day
By comparison, back in 2014, 50 billion messages were sent via WhatsApp with a user base of 500 million people. Six years later, WhatsApp now has over two billion users, with India being the largest market in terms of user base.
In August, WhatsApp developers launched a new tool called Internet Search, which allows users to quickly find information about received links from the Internet. The app also limited the forwarding of “strongly redirected” messages to only one person or group at a time. This directly led to a 70% reduction in the forwarding of such messages, which also slowed down the spread of misleading information on the platform.
