These features should be available to more users in the coming weeks
WhatsApp has long offered voice and video calling on its mobile clients, however, these features are not available on the PC or web version of the service. WhatsApp is reportedly working on bringing voice and video calling to the web and desktop client.
WhatsApp gets even better. Voice and video calls on PC
WABetaInfo reports that WhatsApp is already testing voice and video transmission for the aforementioned versions. As shown in the attached screenshots, several WhatsApp users have already received new voice and video call buttons. You can click on these buttons to make voice and video calls to the selected contact.
If you are on the receiving end, a separate pop-up window will appear on each call. The window will display the contact’s name, profile photo, and buttons to accept or reject the call.
If you are calling, you should see a separate popup with the name and profile photo of the contact you are calling, a button to turn on / off video, a mute button, a menu button, and a hang-up button.
As mentioned above, support for voice and video calls in the WhatsApp web client and desktop client is currently in beta and is only available to a small number of users. While WhatsApp has yet to announce an official release date, the features should be available to more users in the coming weeks.
