WhatsApp is testing the function of accelerated listening to voice messages
Today, the 9to5Mac portal talked about testing a rather important function in WhatsApp. TestFlight iOS beta test participants now have control over the playback speed of voice messages.
Almost all competitors of the popular messenger have had this functionality for quite some time. In WhatsApp build 2.21.60.11, it became possible to select two additional speeds: 1.5x and 2x. It is unknown whether this “feature” will reach public assembly, but those users whose interlocutors like to record voice messages for 2-3 minutes will like the possibility of speeding up.
In parallel with this, the assembly now requires at least iOS version 10. We announced the end of support for old devices by the messenger at the beginning of March. The company also recently announced the introduction of end-to-end encryption for audio and video calls in WhatsApp. These innovations look like an attempt to distract the audience’s attention from the imminent entry into force of the new rules for processing personal data, which the media have been writing about since winter.
