Data is transmitted locally and encrypted
The WhatsApp team has announced the launch of a new feature that makes it easier to transfer chat history from one phone to another. According to the developers, the innovation will begin to be implemented among users today.
Now, in order to transfer chat history from one device to another, it is not necessary to use cloud backups. If both devices work on the same OS, then it will be enough to scan a QR code with one phone from another phone. The data is transmitted locally and encrypted.

The new process could be much faster and easier than the existing cloud alternative, which involves backing up chat history to iCloud or Google Drive and then uploading to a new device. And it avoids cloud storage limitations that you might encounter when including multimedia content in a backup.
The new feature only works between devices with the same operating system, i.e. when transferring history from Android to Android or from iOS to iOS.
