Earlier this year, Microsoft introduced a new Chromium-based Edge browser. A few months after that, the developers reported that the old version of the Edge web browser would no longer be supported next year. Now it became known that the web version of the popular WhatsApp messenger no longer works in the old browser.

According to reports, when I try to open WhatsApp in old Edge, I get a message stating that the service is running on Edge 80 or newer. “ To use WhatsApp, update Windows 10 to get the latest version of Microsoft Edge, or use Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Opera, ” a message shown to users of the old Internet browser said.

It’s worth noting that you don’t need to take any special steps to start using the new Edge. It’s enough to install the recent Windows 10 October 2020 Update, which already uses the new Edge as the default browser. It is also known that next year Microsoft will drop support for Internet Explorer 11, the development of which has long been discontinued.
