Code, quote and list
The team behind the popular WhatsApp messenger is working on new text editing tools that will significantly expand the current capabilities available.
In 2016, WhatsApp added font formatting tools for the first time: bold, italic, strikethrough, and monospace. In 2017, a floating text toolbar was added to the app. At this, development stalled, which allowed competitors to go far ahead.
A new beta for desktop is coming soon, according to WABetaInfo, which will introduce several new formatting options, including inserting a quote block, a code block, and a bulleted list. However, numbered lists and other features are not yet expected.
