Supported models starting with Apple Watch Series 3
In addition to the announcement of smartwatches Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE, Apple announced today at the presentation the exact date of the release of the operating system watchOS 7 for “old” watch models.
When Apple Watch gets the latest watchOS 7
So, watchOS 7 will be available tomorrow, September 16. It can be installed on Apple Watch Series 3 and newer. It requires an iPhone 6s or later with iOS 14. Some features are not available on all devices.
WatchOS 7 provides more options for personalizing your device. Users are offered seven new dials, including “Stripes”, “Chronograph Pro”, “Greenwich” and “Creativity”. There are also new ways to find ready-made dial designs, choose the most interesting ones, and share them with other users.
There are new health and fitness features including maximum oxygen consumption (low range) detection, sleep time tracking, automatic handwashing recognition, and new workouts. Cycling routes have been added to Maps, and Siri on Apple Watch can now translate phrases into different languages.
Family Customization in watchOS 7 allows family members who don’t own an iPhone to use Apple Watch’s connectivity, security, and fitness features. For example, the child will be able, if necessary, to contact the parents, as well as customize the dials, use the “Emergency SOS” function, fill in the Activity rings with adapted goals. This feature works on Apple Watch Series 4 and newer and Apple Watch SE. But only in Wi? Fi + Cellular versions.?
The new “Study Time” mode will help children not to be distracted from their lessons in the classroom and at home. WatchOS 7 has a number of features optimized for seniors. For example, the setup process has been simplified and the X-Large watch face has been updated, which clearly shows the time and extension data. Older people may also find the new Health checklist on iPhone useful — it helps you check if features like fall detection are turned on on your watch.
