When everything is masked, Face ID is doomed. Apple will return Touch ID fingerprint scanner to flagship iPhone 12

In the iPhone 12 series, the Touch ID fingerprint scanner may appear again, but with the preservation of a frameless design without a home button. It is reported that BOE and Qualcomm are working together on an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner that will be embedded under the screen.

The company stopped using Touch ID in its flagships with the launch of the iPhone X and Face ID facial recognition system. If Face ID disappears from the flagship iPhone, then the company will be able to significantly reduce the “fringe”.

According to the latest report, in connection with the coronavirus pandemic, the release of the iPhone 12 may be delayed from September to November or even later. By the way, in connection with the pandemic, the Face ID system is subjected to particularly intense criticism, since unlocking a masked smartphone is difficult.
