Windows 10 taskbar search gets integration with the Edge browser

Taskbar search is one of the powerful and in-demand tools of the Windows 10 software platform due to its deep enough integration with Microsoft services. However, the internal search of the operating system is poorly integrated with the proprietary Edge browser. The good news is that it is about to change.

According to online sources, Microsoft has begun testing a new feature in its Chromium-based web browsers that will provide deep integration with Windows 10’s internal search. According to reports, users will retrieve information directly from the browser using a taskbar search. For example, it will allow you to search through the tabs open in the browser.

Also, browsing history, popular sites, and recent tabs will be available from Windows search. In fact, if a user activates Edge sync with a mobile browser, they will access their smartphone’s web browsing history right from Windows Search.

It’s worth noting that the integration is completely one-way. This means that there will be no Windows search function using Edge. Users will be able to turn off the integration if necessary, after which Edge will automatically delete the data exchanged with the OS. The new feature is currently available to a limited number of users in a test version of Edge Canary. When it may become widespread is still unknown.
