Xbox Shareware Stops Requiring Xbox Live Gold Subscription
Microsoft today announced that it had changed its policy for accessing multiplayer shareware games on Xbox consoles from today. These projects no longer require an active Xbox Live Gold subscription.
On PlayStation platforms, an active PlayStation Plus subscription hasn’t been required for shareware multiplayer for several years. Now Microsoft has caught up with its rival, Sony.
Recall that everything happened after the corporation decided to increase the cost of Xbox Live Gold. This news was received so negatively by the community that Microsoft immediately backed down – canceled the price hike and promised to untie shareware games from Xbox Live Gold.
