Huami, a subsidiary of Xiaomi, has created a face mask that can protect against coronavirus. This was reported by brand representatives in a telephone interview for TechCrunch.
Xiaomi Covid MaskThe Aeri mask, unlike cheap analogues on the market, is made of plastic and filter elements. A distinctive feature of the accessory is the transparency of materials – when worn, the user’s face will not be hidden. According to Huami, this will allow mask owners to continue to use smartphones with a face unlock feature.

Aeri also received a built-in ultraviolet lamp, which is necessary for the disinfection of filter elements. Disinfection lasts 10 minutes and starts at the moment when the user connects the mask to the power source via USB. Huami noticed that this method cleans only the internal components of the accessory – the external part of the mask will still have to be sanitized manually.
The Aeri protective filter is designed for up to one and a half months, after the expiration of the resource, it will need to be replaced. The modular design of the device allows you to buy additional parts and upgrade the protective equipment: in particular, device owners can install a fan, which contributes to increased airflow.
According to Huami, the device can be compared to N95 masks in terms of air filtration. The development and release of the gadget are planned to be completed within 6-12 months, the cost of the protective device is not reported.
