In the third quarter of this year, 365.6 million smart cellular devices were sold globally. This is 4% less year on year when shipments were equal to 380.0 million units. However, compared to the second quarter of the year, impressive growth was recorded – plus 32%.

The largest supplier of smartphones at the end of the last quarter was the South Korean giant Samsung with 79.8 million units shipped and a share of 22%.

China’s Huawei is in second place with 50.9 million smartphones delivered, which corresponds to 14% of the market. Under the yoke of US sanctions, Huawei’s position began to weaken rapidly: a year earlier, the company’s share was 18%.

For the first time in history, Xiaomi took third place on a global scale. The company shipped 46.2 million smartphones during the quarter. Despite the pandemic and a difficult economic environment, Xiaomi’s share rose from 8% year on year to 13%.

Apple is in fourth place with 11% of the market. This is followed by the Chinese companies OPPO and Vivo, each of which controls about 8% of the industry.

Analysts also highlight the company Realme: it increased shipments of smartphones by 45% year on year and 132% quarterly. The total share of Realme is 4%.
