Xiaomi is ready to launch smartphones with a front camera hidden under the display
It is quite obvious that one of the main trends in the smartphone market in the near future will be devices with a front camera hidden under the screen. More recently, ZTE introduced the first such smartphone, dubbed the Axon 20 5G. Now Xiaomi is announcing its readiness to release a similar model.
The company has reportedly been working on a sub-screen front camera for some time now. According to a recent report, Xiaomi will be partnering with Star Optoelectronics to launch the mass production of smartphones with a sub-screen camera. Lei Jun, founder, chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi Group said that thanks to the efforts of the Xiaomi engineering team, the company’s third-generation sub-screen camera technology has reached a level suitable for mass production. The release of smartphones with this technology, he said, will begin next year.
In addition, Lu Weibing, general manager of the Redmi brand, said that the new Xiaomi technology will solve two main problems in the implementation of sub-screen cameras: reduced image quality on the screen in the area of camera placement and parasitic color casts in the photo caused by screen glow.
According to Xiaomi’s statements, the company will present something revolutionary. However, we will be able to verify this only next year.
