Xiaomi is working on creating its own car – the announcement of Mi Car is expected in the coming months

Network sources report that Xiaomi is close to organizing its own project in the automotive field. Xiaomi co-founder and CEO Lei Jun spearhead the initiative, and the company’s plans are very ambitious.

Rumors that Xiaomi is eyeing the car market surfaced a  month ago. Then it was reported that various forms of project implementation were being considered. It is now argued that we are talking about organizing the production of cars under the brand name Xiaomi.

Such cars will belong to the middle and upper price segments. In cars, as noted, Xiaomi intends to use its own developments and already tested technologies actively. It can be assumed that we are talking about multimedia capabilities and various means of assisting the driver.

Lei Jun has allegedly already met with the leadership of the Chinese automaker NIO to discuss the initiative. It is also said that Xiaomi intends to interact with other local players in the automotive industry, including BYD, as part of the project. With confidence that Xiaomi will produce electric vehicles under its own brand – a technology company should not produce cars on fossil fuels.

It is reported that the start of the project will be announced within “a couple of months” – by the end of March or in April.
