Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 has a defect that permanently spoils the camera and photos

Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi Note 9 family of smartphones earlier this year. It includes Redmi Note 9 and Redmi Note 9 Pro. Both smartphones use a similar design for the main camera module and both reportedly suffer from a defect that allows dust to fall under the camera’s protective glass.

Apparently, we are talking about a manufacturing defect, as a result of which the module is not properly sealed, which allows tiny dust particles to fall under the protective glass. Since dust accumulates directly inside the module, it is not possible to remove it from there without disassembling the smartphone. Dirt directly affects the quality of the resulting photos and videos, making them grainy and washed out.

Back in June, Xiaomi responded to early user complaints by stating that it would improve quality control on assembly lines and offer Redmi Note 9 owners affected by the issue a free fix at Xiaomi branded service centers. However, there are still reports of Redmi Note 9 affected by this defect on the web. There is a possibility that these devices were released before June.
