Young to old: Microsoft has already approached several Japanese game studios to purchase

Bloomberg reporter Takashi Mochizuki, citing his own sources, announced Microsoft’s continuing interest in acquiring a Japanese game studio.

Young to Old

Recall that in June 2019, the head of the Xbox Phil Spencer mentioned the desire to join his team and a company from the Land of the Rising Sun.

Since then, the American platform holder has moved from words to deeds: according to Bloomberg, several Japanese development studios have received an offer from Microsoft to sell their business.

Significantly, Microsoft turned to both small businesses and large ones. The journalist does not specify what kind of corporations he is talking about – the negotiations were confidential.

At the request of Bloomberg, the situation was commented on by the head of the Asian direction of Xbox Jeremy Hinton (Jeremy Hinton). According to him, Microsoft is “always open to talk” with developers, but so far the company has nothing to announce.

Earlier, players suspected Microsoft of seeking to acquire Sega publishing house: Internet detectives saw hints of an alleged upcoming deal in recent publications by both parties.

Speaking of Sega. Recently it became known that the version of Yakuza: Like a Dragon for Xbox Series X will not be released in Japan on the appointed day (November 10). The release was postponed indefinitely.
