Now they will be paid for the time users spend on the channel. It doesn’t matter if they are subscribers or not.
The Zen platform announced an update to the monetization system. As stated on the page of the service for authors, from August 1 of this year, Zen will begin to pay authors for the time that all users will spend watching their content. It does not matter if the user is subscribed to the channel or not. According to the service team, the new monetization model will allow rewarding the authors of engaging content and increasing the time that users consciously spend in Zen.
“Zen” has updated the system of payments to content authors
Since the spring of 2022, payment to the authors of Zen has been charged for active subscribers. Advertising revenue was distributed depending on how many users subscribed to the author’s channel and how regularly they interacted with its content. Authors will now get paid for the time users spend watching or reading their content. The longer users watch the video and read the author’s articles, the more he will earn.
The time will be counted in minutes of engaged viewing, and the algorithm will evaluate this indicator. For example, if a user opens a post and closes it immediately, that view time is not counted. And if the author sets his video to autoplay for 24 hours to earn more, the platform will also record this and will not take this time into account. For those authors who have already enabled monetization in Zen according to the previous rules, nothing will change until the end of 2023, the service team reports. From July 4 to August 1, Zene temporarily suspends accepting applications for connecting monetization.
