Zoom prepares email and calendar to compete with Google and Microsoft

Zoom’s video conferencing service has had a very successful year. The company’s shares are up more than 500 per cent due to the massive shift to telecommuting and distance learning caused by the coronavirus pandemic. According to the latest data from The Information, the company plans to expand into new markets and launch a branded mail service and calendar.

Zoom is reportedly already working on postal service. It is assumed that its testing will begin next year. The calendar is rumoured to arrive at a later date, and it is unclear if development has already begun. Both services will help Zoom maintain their position as companies start returning employees to their offices and video usage drops. Zoom’s main competitors like Google and Microsoft have both calendars and postal services in their arsenal, so the company decided to keep up.

Among other things, the source said that Zoom is considering building a complete business software suite and integrating its products with third-party apps such as Asana and Dropbox. Zoom has not yet confirmed or denied this information.
