Zoom video conferencing service gets two-factor authentication support

The term Zoombombing has become widely known since the Zoom video conferencing app rose in popularity amid the coronavirus pandemic. This concept implies the malicious actions of persons entering Zoom conferences through loopholes in the service’s security system. Despite numerous improvements to the product, such situations still happen.

However, yesterday, September 10th, Zoom finally presented a viable solution to the problem. Video conferencing administrators will now be able to use two-factor authentication for user access to virtual conference rooms. Two-factor authentication requires the user to use two or more ways to verify their identity. These additional methods can include passwords, mobile verifications, and even fingerprint scanning. At the same time, the risk of a stranger entering your account is significantly reduced, it becomes almost impossible.

It’s worth noting that the idea of using two-factor authentication is no longer new. In this way, you can protect accounts in the vast majority of modern online services. In order to activate the function in Zoom, you need to go to the Security submenu of the Advanced menu in the application control panel, and then activate the Login with two-factor authentication item.
