ZTE Axon 20 smartphone with sub-screen camera lost 5G support and became cheaper

Today we announced that ZTE is going to unveil the Axon 20 5G Extreme Edition, a more powerful version of the world’s first smartphone with a subscreen front camera. As it now turns out, this device will also be available in a less powerful modification: the Axon 20 4G variant is presented.

As the name reflects, the smartphone is designed to operate on fourth-generation 4G / LTE cellular networks. Dropping support for 5G has allowed for cost savings, although the exact price will be announced at a later date.

The original model of the device carries onboard a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor with an integrated 5G modem. The new variant received the budget chip Unisoc Tiger T618: it combines two ARM Cortex-A75 cores with a clock speed of up to 2.0 GHz and six ARM Cortex-A55 cores with the same frequency. The Mali G52 MP2 GPU accelerator is responsible for graphics processing.

Other characteristics remained unchanged. This is a 32-megapixel selfie camera behind a 6.92-inch Full HD + (2460 x 1080) display. The quad rear camera has a configuration of 64 + 8 + 2 + 2 million pixels.

The device’s arsenal includes 6 GB of RAM, a flash drive with a capacity of 128 GB, Wi-Fi 802.11a / b / g / n / ac and Bluetooth 5.1 adapters, a USB Type-C port, a 4220 mAh battery.
