“I will join the coolest company on the planet as a software engineer”

SpaceX hired 14-year-old software engineer Kairan Kwazi, who went through a “technically difficult” and “fun” interview process. Quasi is the youngest person ever hired by SpaceX. According to the LA Times, he began studying computer science and engineering at the age of 11 and will graduate from Santa Clara University in June with a degree in computer science and engineering.

Quasi is thrilled to start his new job at SpaceX and looks forward to using his skills to help the company achieve its goal of sending humans to Mars.

“I will be joining the coolest company on the planet as a software engineer on the Starlink engineering team. This is one of the rare companies that hasn’t used my age as an arbitrary and outdated indicator of maturity and ability,” he wrote on LinkedIn.

When Quasi was in third grade, only nine years old, he found that his schoolwork was not challenging enough. His parents, recognizing his academic potential, enrolled him in a community college. “I felt like I was learning at the level I was supposed to be,” Kazi says.

In his free time, Quasi enjoys playing games set in historical periods, such as the Assassin’s Creed series. He also enjoys reading science fiction stories by Philip K. Dick and the work of journalist Michael Lewis, who specializes in financial crises and behavioral finance.

Earlier this year, the 14-year-old took to social media to prepare for a job interview. A few weeks later, he posted a screenshot of his job application letter from SpaceX.
