Based on Nvidia H100
Startup Inflection AI, already invested in by Bill Gates and Eric Schmidt and Nvidia, is about to build one of the most powerful supercomputers in the world using a huge number of Nvidia H100 accelerators.
22,000 of the most expensive Nvidia accelerators
The as-yet-unnamed system will contain 22,000 accelerators, making it the second supercomputer on the Top500 list, behind only the AMD-powered Frontier system. True, the Aurora system based on Intel components should also be put into operation soon , which will be much more powerful than Frontier, so by its release the Inflection AI system may already be at least the third one.
Either way, it’s a very powerful system by any measure. Including literally powerful: it will consume up to 31 MW.
The problem is that the demand for the H100 is so great that simply buying 22,000 of these accelerators from the company is clearly not going to work. Although, perhaps it will help that Nvidia is among its shareholders. In any case, there is no timeline for launching the system yet.
