All because of the high cost of the Snapdragon 865
Top single-chip systems live on the market much less than mid-budget or budget solutions. For example, the SoC Snapdragon 675 has been on the market for about a year and a half and is still installed in some new devices, and the Snapdragon 450 debuted at all almost three years ago and is not going to retire.

But top solutions often live only one year. Apart from single models like the LG Style3, we won’t see a new smartphone on the Snapdragon 855 or even more so the Snapdragon 845 after the Snapdragon 865 entered the market. And no matter how good the latter is, after the release of the Snapdragon 875, it will also go to rest. This is due primarily to marketing but now is not about that.
The fact that the situation with the SoC Snapdragon 865 is different from what it was before. This platform is simply much more expensive than its predecessor, even by itself, not to mention the fact that its use brings with it the need to implement a more expensive array of antennas for 5G. And it seems that smartphone makers may return to using the Snapdragon 855.
According to an insider, several new smartphones based on the Snapdragon 855+ are preparing to enter the market at once. One of them will be Realme X3 SuperZoom. Judging by the tags in the author’s message, another may release the Poco brand. And this will be a correct decision, as it will allow manufacturers to save significantly, and most users will still not notice the difference in performance and speed.
