Microsoft returns to its usual Windows 10 update schedule

Microsoft returns to its usual Windows 10 update schedule

In March of this year, Microsoft announced the suspension of optional updates for all supported versions of the Windows software platform. We are talking about update packages released in the third or fourth week of the month, and the reason for this decision was the coronavirus pandemic. Now it has been announced that the release of optional updates for Windows 10 and Windows Server version 1809 and later has been resumed.

” Starting in July 2020, we are resuming the release of non-security updates for Windows 10 and Windows Server, version 1809 and higher, ” Microsoft said in a statement.

It also notes that there have been no changes to the release schedule for the monthly cumulative security updates that are delivered to users as part of “Tuesday updates” or Patch Tuesday. This means that all supported versions of Windows will receive regular security updates according to the standard schedule.

As a reminder, optional updates include non-security fixes and improvements. Most often, they bring users fixes for minor bugs in Windows 10. According to reports, Microsoft will release the next optional update in the third week of the month. This means that the next Windows 10 fix pack will be available for download on July 24th. It should be noted that optional updates are not installed automatically, users need to download them themselves.
