More powerful MacBook Pros, iMacs and even Mac Pros should be the next Apple branded processors

More powerful MacBook Pros, iMacs and even Mac Pros should be the next Apple branded processors

Everyone has already heard that Apple is officially ditching Intel processors. Consider the era over: Mac computers will now have branded ARM processors. Just this week, the new 13-inch MacBook Pro and MacBook Air were unveiled, as well as the Mac mini with the Apple M1 chip. Apple has been hatching the creation of its own processor for a long time, and it seems that this is only the beginning of the company’s transition to its chips.

Apple named the M1 the most powerful chip the company has ever worked on. According to Apple, the epithets “super-efficient” and “energy-efficient” are best suited for its chip. Apple has confirmed that the transition to its own processor will not be overnight and will take about two years. The official version, it seems, did not suit everyone, because almost immediately after the presentation, rumors began to circulate in which Mac computers with the next update will be equipped with M-series chips.

First, it could be the highly anticipated 14-inch MacBook Pro. Back in July, authoritative analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that new 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, already with Apple processors and an all-new design, would be released at the end of the second or third quarter of 2021. Then the forecast also sounded that laptops will also change the display to Mini-LED.

Next comes the 16-inch MacBook Pro. Mark Gurman and Debby Wu of Bloomberg were confident that a new 16-inch MacBook Pro with an Apple processor was in development, but no release dates were given.

The 24-inch iMac will probably be updated over time. This summer, in June, the same Ming-Chi Kuo wrote that Apple will release a 24-inch iMac with “a completely new design no earlier than the end of the fourth quarter of 2020 or at the beginning of the first quarter of 2021. ”

The younger Mac Pro will also receive an Apple chip. Bloomberg was confident that Apple was developing a new Mac Pro that would be about half the size of the standard model. The Bloomberg report says that experts cannot say unequivocally whether this Mac will replace the current Mac Pro or will be released as an additional model.

So why is Apple’s new proprietary chip, created in Cupertino for their own systems, taking such a wave? In addition to the fact that Apple has been going to this event for a long time, on the modern horizon, M1 presents an impressive processor / OS bundle, where everything, as they say, is “own”. With an octa-core processor, octa-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine, unified memory architecture, and more, the M1 chip delivers up to 3.5x faster system performance and up to 6x faster graphics performance. If these numbers are not enough, you can add up to 15 times more performance in machine learning. In addition, battery life is up to 2x longer than the previous generation MacBook.

The new 13-inch MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and Mac mini are available to order from Apple stores. The first deliveries to customers and a grand appearance in stores are expected on November 17th. Prices in the US start at $ 1,299 for the 13-inch MacBook Pro, $ 999 for the MacBook Air, and $ 699 for the new Mac mini.
