Key factors affecting the telecommunications market this year
IDC analysts expect telecommunications services to reach $ 1.6 billion in 2020, almost unchanged from last year. According to analysts, the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the market in several ways.
According to the IDC forecast, this year the world expenses for telecommunication services will reach $ 1.6 billion.
On the one hand, there is an increase in the use of communication services due to restrictions on movement and an increase in the number of working and studying at home. However, this does not lead to a sharp increase in the cost of communication services, since many home users have already used plans in which there is no restriction on calls and Internet traffic.
On the other hand, in the commercial segment, expenses decreased due to the fact that enterprises suspended work or closed. The ongoing transition to Internet communication and cloud services with a lower ARPU (Average Revenue Per User, average income per active user for the selected period), as well as the projected decrease in GDP in the second half of the year, were identified as key factors affecting the telecommunications services market this year.
