Xiaomi’s strategy of launching new products to the market, one after another and without stopping, is not limited only to smartphones. With their line of Airdots headphones (also known as My True Wireless) they do the same. They even do it with the same vice that the company has of putting different names to the same product for the different markets where it is going to be launched. Last year, for example, the second generation of Airdots Pro was released, which, in some markets, has come under the name of Xiaomi Air 2 TWS.
Then, the Chinese brand released a slightly improved alternative to these new Airdots Pro 2 under the name Airdots Pro 2S, also known as My Airdots 2S. Now, Xiaomi has launched a new proposal for Airdots Pro 2, cheaper, with the name of Airdots Pro 2 SE (or Air 2 SE). Here we show you how these new headphones are and how they differ from the normal model of the series.
All the features of the Airdots Pro 2 SE
First of all, here we leave you the datasheet of these new Airdots Pro 2 SE so that you can review its main characteristics yourself.

A different charging case, but maintaining ENC noise cancellation
Unlike their older siblings, these Airdots Pro 2 SEs come with a more rectangular charging case and an opening system similar to that of the Redmi Airdots. However, the design of these headphones itself is identical to that of normal Airdots Pro 2. That is, they have an elongated bar to adjust them to the ear and control them since they have tactile buttons that allow you to control music playback, answer calls or summon the virtual assistant.
They do not have active noise cancellation, but they do have ENC (ambient noise cancellation) thanks to the two microphones and the beamforming technology they incorporate. So in this aspect, they do not differ from the Airdots Pro 2. The same can be said of the connectivity since both models are connected by Bluetooth 5.0 and do not lose the connection up to a distance of 10 meters (without obstacles). On the other hand, it should be noted that each earphone weighs 4.7 grams and together with the case they weigh 48 grams.
Not compatible with new LHDC codec
When it comes to audio quality, these Airdots Pro 2 SE don’t disappoint. They feature a 14.2mm diaphragm and are compatible with AAC and SBC codecs to deliver fairly acceptable sound quality in most situations. However, if we compare them to the normal Airdots Pro 2, these new Xiaomi headphones have a not so good latency (time in which the sound takes to get from the mobile to the earphone).
Why is this? Well, they are not compatible with the LHDC codec that normal Airdots Pro 2 does support and that manages to reduce the latency time considerably. And is that some feature had to be sacrificed for these new Airdots Pro 2 SE to reach such a low price.
The autonomy of up to 25 hours with the charging case
Where the Airdots Pro 2 SE stand out the most is in autonomy. Unlike their older siblings who have a 4-hour autonomy, these new headphones can last up to 5 hours on their own, playing music continuously. Now, its charging case can provide about 20 hours more autonomy, which is charged with a USB-C cable.
By the way, it takes 0-100% for each headset to charge in just 1 hour.
Airdots Pro 2 SE price and where to buy them
The Airdots Pro 2 SE are already available in different online stores for a price of around 34 euros. That is to say, they are worthless than half that the Airdots 2S and Airdots Pro 2. If we consider that the only thing that these headphones sacrifice is a little the audio quality for not being compatible with the LHDC codec, we are facing a very attractive proposal.
So, if you were looking for cheap “totally wireless” headphones that will serve you for everything, without a doubt the Airdots Pro 2 SE is the best option available on the market right now for you.
