Innovations will be introduced gradually
The Google team has added new features for creators of YouTube Shorts that TikTok users will recognize. New features include live vertical video streaming, side-by-side recording, and additional tools for creating “shorts” from long YouTube videos.
Vertical live broadcasts are available in a separate feed. They also give access to paid chats and paid memberships. This format will be rolled out among users gradually over the coming months.

New tools for creating short videos from regular horizontal YouTube clips are also being tested, in particular the ability to scale and crop the original video. The sound from the same timestamp as in the original video will also be “pulled up” into the new video.
Another innovation is similar to the TikTok Due feature. An innovation called Collab offers several layouts that authors can use.
