AMD’s best business is in the server market

Resource Tom’s Hardware shared data on the share of AMD and Intel in the processor market in the first quarter of 2023. Based on a Mercury Research report.

Unfortunately, not all data is available yet, but we will update the news as soon as they become available. In any case, most of the information is already available. In particular, it is known that AMD occupies 19.2% of the desktop CPU market, having increased the figure for the year by 0.9 percentage points. In recent years, this is almost a record result: it was better only in the fourth quarter of 2020 and the first quarter of 2021, when AMD’s share reached 19.3%, and also in the third quarter of 2020, when the share was 20.1%. 

AMD continues to take share from Intel in the processor market

In the mobile CPU market, AMD is doing worse. The company holds 16.2%, which is 6.3 p.p. lower than a year ago. Well, AMD is doing best, as you might guess, in the server market. Analysts claim that AMD already occupies 18% of the market there against 11.6% a year earlier. That is, the growth rate of AMD is very high.

AMD’s total market share is not yet available, but in the fourth quarter of 2022 it was 31.3%, one of the highest in the company’s history.
