The named body was discovered on August 14, 2009. It belongs to the Apollo group: these are near-earth asteroids, whose orbits cross the earth’s orbit from the outside. Such objects are potentially dangerous to the Earth.

Asteroid 2009 PQ1, according to various estimates, has a diameter of 84 to 190 meters. The closest approach of the body to our planet will occur on August 5 at 19:35 Moscow time.

However, the asteroid does not pose a threat to the Earth. It will travel at a distance of 3.2 million kilometers, which is approximately eight times the distance between the Earth and the Moon.

It is also noted that the next time asteroid 2009 PQ1 will fly past our planet only in 2137.
