The docs describe the 3-pin MagSafe charger
Sources have repeatedly reported that Apple may abandon the Lightning connector in iPhones, but the manufacturer will not use the popular USB-C connector.
And this is the replacement for Lightning in the iPhone? First images of the new magnetic connector
Now it has become known that Apple has patented a new type of connector for the iPhone. The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has published a patent describing a three-pin MagSafe charger that does not connect to the back of a smartphone, but where the Lightning connector is now located.
The cable and the place on the body of the smartphone where it will be connected are equipped with magnets that allow it to be securely fixed. In this case, there will be a small recess on the body with a depth of several millimeters.
It is not yet known if Apple plans to use the new magnetic charging in parallel with the MagSafe ring magnetic charging on the back of smartphones.
Tianfeng International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently stated that the USB-C interface does not contribute to the profitability of the Apple MFi accessory project, and the water resistance of a smartphone with such a connector will be lower than that of the Lightning. Therefore, if Apple will abandon the Lightning connector in its smartphones in the future, it will be in favor of magnetic charging.
