Android 11 update turns Xiaomi Mi A3 smartphones into “brick”

The Chinese company Xiaomi unexpectedly began rolling out the stable version of Android 11 for Xiaomi Mi A3 smartphones without preliminary beta testing of the software. As a result, it turned out that the update contains errors and actually completely breaks the devices after installation.

Almost immediately after the start of the distribution of Android 11 for Xiaomi Mi A3, messages from smartphone owners appeared on various Internet resources, who complained that after installing the update, the device became completely inoperable. Xiaomi quickly acknowledged the problem and asked Mi A3 owners to postpone the update.

As a reminder, the Xiaomi Mi A3 smartphone was released in 2019. It is a budget device powered by Android One. This version of the software platform is aimed at the segment of low-cost devices. It is noteworthy that last year, Mi A3 owners already faced problems when Xiaomi released an update to Android 10. Now history has repeated itself and it is not known whether it will be possible to return the functionality to smartphones that have already received the update to Android 11.

It is currently unknown how widespread the problem is, and how Xiaomi plans to solve it. For Xiaomi Mi A3 owners who have not yet managed to update their devices to Android 11, it is better to postpone this until the manufacturer officially announces a solution to the problem.
