Animal Crossing: New Horizons Helps Police Return Switch To Its Owner

Taiwanese television station Chinese Television System posted on its website how Animal Crossing: New Horizons helped reunite the Nintendo Switch with its lost owner.

It all started with the fact that a local resident decided to use an ATM. In order not to be bored on the road, the player took with him a Nintendo Switch, which he safely forgot on the machine after performing the necessary operations.

The hybrid console was discovered and sent to the police station by an indifferent stranger. It does not contain any contact information about the owner of the Nintendo Switch, so it was not possible to contact the victim.

Fortunately, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which has an in-game mail system, was installed on the console. The police used it to send a message to the friend of the gamer about the find.

“A stranger picked up the account owner’s Switch, but there is no way to contact him. I ask you to notify the owner of the account so that he can pick up [the console], ”the police said in a statement.

Nintendo Switch eventually found its owner, and law enforcement officials in Taiwan received a portion of praise from Internet users. Meanwhile, there is still no built-in chat on the hybrid console.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons was released in March this year exclusively on the Nintendo Switch. For a month and a half since the release, more than 13 million copies have been sold. Apparently, there are two or three Taiwanese policemen among the owners of the game.
