Base models will have lower speed

Apple seems to be intent on limiting the USB-C port on the iPhone 15. Apparently, only using a proprietary cable will make it possible to use fast charging and high-speed data transfer. That is, it will be an analogue of Lightning. A special authentication chip will be responsible for control.

If you connect the wrong cable to such a smartphone, the warning “This accessory is not supported” may appear on the screen.

At the same time, the 10th generation iPad, iPad mini, iPad Air and iPad Pro tablets use a regular cable without a chip. But the data transfer speed is different – in the 10th generation iPad, it is approximately the same as Lightning, that is, the loss of USB 2.0.

According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the same speed limit will apply to the ‌iPhone 15‌/iPhone 15‌ Plus. That is, the difference from the iPhone 14 line will be only the physical design of the connector, but not the speed performance. But the ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ and ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ Max seem to get faster speeds.

Previously, Kuo has already stated that the “periscope” camera will appear only in the top version of the iPhone 16.
