Apple to release iPhone with Touch ID fingerprint reader this year

The iPhone 13, which is due to launch this fall, will likely receive in-display fingerprint scanners in addition to Face ID. This was stated by an analyst at the bank Barclays Andrew Gardiner (Andrew Gardiner) and three of his colleagues.

A research note released today by MacRumors reveals that the iPhone 13 will receive a smaller notch, and the LiDAR sensor will continue to be the prerogative of Pro models. Barclays says the data released is based on conversations with Apple suppliers in recent weeks.

Analysts say the reduction of the notch in the screen will be possible thanks to a more compact arrangement of True Depth sensors used for face scanning. An even larger breakthrough in this area is expected to occur in 2022. This is in line with analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s statement, who previously reported that some 2022 iPhones might have a small round notch for the front camera, like in Samsung’s flagship devices.

Note that in the past, Barclays analysts have been fairly accurate in predicting innovations in Apple products. They were the first to talk about the appearance of the True Tone system in the iPhone 8 and iPhone X, removing the adapter for using headphones with a 3.5 mm plug from the iPhone XS and XR, and the rejection of 3D Touch in the iPhone 11.
