Apple will gain a foothold in the laptop processor market with the release of the new MacBook Pro on branded chips

Apple is expected to release 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros based on ARM processors in the second half of this year. Analysts at Taiwan-based research firm TrendForce say this will increase Apple’s share of the laptop processor market to 7%.

Back in July 2020, authoritative analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo announced that new 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros with Apple-branded chips will hit the market at the end of the second or third quarter of 2021. Kuo said these laptops will receive a completely redesigned design and will boast Mini-LED displays. Recall that, according to Apple, the full transition to its own processors will take the company two years. Last month, Nikkei Asia reported that this year we will see a new iMac Pro powered by Apple processors.

TrendForce argues that Intel will have to go to great lengths to deal with competitive pressures from Apple and AMD, which are ahead in technology. The M1, Apple’s first computer chipset, has proven to be very powerful. The base MacBook Air outperforms the most advanced 16-inch MacBook Pro in some tests. Apple is expected to introduce several new chips for computers of various sizes this year.
