Sharp will be the largest supplier of LCD screens for iPhone soon
Sharp announced on August 28 that the company will spend $ 390 million to acquire the JDI Baishan plant. According to CBN, after Sharp acquired the Japan Display Corporation (JDI) plant in Hakusan, Apple asked Sharp to increase the production of LCD panels for the iPhone.
Apple will release the iPhone with LCD screens for another 3-5 years
Chen Jun, the chief analyst at Qunzhi Consulting, said Sharp will become the largest supplier of iPhone LCD screens in the near future.
The iPhone 11 lineup uses LCD and OLED screens. The 5.8-inch iPhone 11 Pro and 6.5-inch iPhone 11 Pro Max use OLED screens, while the 6.1-inch iPhone 11 uses LCD panels. The iPhone 12 lineup is expected to include four models. All four models in the series will use OLED screens, according to the leaked information.
In this regard, Chen Jun said that Apple will continue to release smartphones with LCD screens for the next three to five years. Obviously, we are talking about inexpensive models of the iPhone SE line.
LGD, JDI, and Sharp are currently the main suppliers of LCD screens for the Apple iPhone. However, next year LGD will exit this list.
