Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was left without full-fledged sea battles, because the Vikings were not “carried away”

Producer of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Julien Lafer (Julien Laferriere) in a recent interview with Game Informer spoke about postreliznyh priorities and unsold in the final game idea.

Recall that after the release, Ubisoft promised to supply the project with free (new raids, modes, items of equipment, skills) and paid content (two-story additions).

According to Laferriere, outside of the announced plans, the French publishing house is trying to listen to its audience: in particular, “to respond to new platforms, because they continue to get better

“We were well received on PS5, Xbox Series X and PC as well; people definitely enjoy the advanced features of the game, so we want to continue to pay attention to this, ” – said the producer.

As for the unrealized ideas, Laferriere attributed naval battles to them: “We found out that the Vikings did not really fight on the water; thought they could shoot fire arrows like in Odyssey. But no, they didn’t do it

In addition to this, the region chosen by the developers assumed only small reservoirs, while there was no question of the sea. So the main character’s ship became more a means of transportation than an attacking unit.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is available on PC (Uplay, Epic Games Store), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Google Stadia. The release of Wrath of the Druids – the first of two-story additions to the game – is expected in spring 2021.
