ASUS unveils its own GeForce RTX 30xx in ROG Strix, TUF Gaming and Dual series

Taiwan-based hardware maker ASUS has unveiled its GeForce RTX 3090, GeForce RTX 3080, and GeForce RTX 3070 graphics cards in ROG Strix, TUF Gaming, and Dual versions. All new products are built on the basis of the latest NVIDIA Ampere graphics architecture, ready to offer up to 1.9 times the performance per watt of power consumption.

The older series of gaming video cards ASUS ROG Strix traditionally offers only the best equipment. The GeForce RTX 3090, GeForce RTX 3080, and GeForce RTX 3070 models use massive cooling systems with an updated design and three fans. They occupy 2.9 expansion slots in a computer case.

Reducing the turbulence of the air driven through the CO is provided by the reversible rotation of the central fan. All three “turntables” are equipped with barrier rings. The central fan has 13 blades and a full-size barrier ring. The lateral blades use 11 blades and a half-size barrier ring for more efficient lateral dispersion of hot air. This design allows you to more efficiently remove heat from the hot elements of video cards and cool their graphics processor.

The CO contact pad for the GeForce RTX 3090, GeForce RTX 3080, and GeForce RTX 3070 ROG Strix series uses MaxContact technology, which provides the maximum contact area with the GPU heat distribution cover. ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 30 Series graphics cards support FanConnect II. It allows you to connect case fans to the video card and set them the desired rotation speed settings depending on the temperature indicators of the CPU and GPU.

ASUS ROG Strix graphics cards use only the highest quality Super Alloy Power II GPU and memory components. In addition, all models are equipped with a dual BIOS that allows you to switch between “quiet” and “performance” modes of operation. Also, the models of this series can boast of the presence of sensors that monitor the voltage drops at the power supply. And the presence of an LED indicator on video cards will indicate the presence of such a problem. The picture is completed by a customizable RGB lighting system, which can be controlled using the proprietary ASUS Armory Crate software.

ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3090 graphics card offers 24GB of GDDR6X video memory supporting a 384-bit bus. The ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3080 has 10 GB of GDDR6X video memory with support for the 320-bit bus. The ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3070 uses 8 GB of GDDR6 video memory with a 320-bit bus.

ASUS TUF Gaming series graphics cards are available only in the GeForce RTX 3090 and GeForce RTX 3080 models. They also feature massive cooling systems with three fans with double roller bearings and a metal shroud.

ASUS TUF Gaming models use only high-quality military-grade components that have passed a 144-hour proof test. The CO fans of this series of video cards can completely stop when there is no load on the graphics system, providing the maximum level of silence.

On the back of the cards, there is a perforated plate (backplate). The latter allows you to more efficiently remove hot air outside the radiator of the video card. Both models of this series of video cards are equipped with a dual BIOS, which allows performance tuning without the use of third-party software.

The younger ASUS Dual series is represented only by the GeForce RTX 3070 model. It is equipped with a simpler cooling system with two fans, which makes it more compact and suitable for installation in small computer cases. The card is equipped with an additional rear stiffness plate that does not allow the PCB to bend under its own weight. The card is equipped with 8 GB of GDDR6 memory with 256-bit bus support.

All of the above models of ASUS graphics cards are equipped with two HDMI 2.1 connectors and three DisplayPort 1.4a. Older GeForce RTX 3090 models use three 8-pin connectors for additional power. The GeForce RTX 3080 models are equipped with two, and the GeForce RTX 3070 one 8-pin connector.

According to the manufacturer, all the presented series of new generation GeForce RTX video cards will go on sale in September this year. Unfortunately, ASUS has not reported anything about a more precise date for the launch of new products, as well as their prices.
